Remains of the Imperial Japanese Navy Sasebo Naval Guard Power Plant for Mt. Bandake Antiaircraft Guns Battery on Takashima Island
This facility was a power plant built to supply the battery on Mt. Bandake with electricity. It was a reinforced-concrete single-story building with a water tank for a water-cooling type generator. Since the battery consisted of antiaircraft guns and the second sound locator on Mt. Bandake and the first sound locator set on the northern mountain area, it is considered that the power plant was built at this halfway point.
After the Pacific war, the facility was transferred to the local community and kept supplying the houses on the island with electricity until a power transmission facility was completed in 1958. Currently the power plant is used as a warehouse and the water tank is used as a fire fighting water tank.
