Mayor’s comment on the location of a new business facility by Futaba
Industrial Co. Ltd. into Sasebo

I am very pleased to inform the residents in Sasebo about the location of a new business facility by Futaba Industrial Co. Ltd. into Sasebo City.

　Futaba sews and produces interior parts for automobile. I have heard that Futaba plans to build a factory in Sasebo for cutting and sewing car seat covers.

　I would like to express sincerely my appreciation toward Mr. Yamada, Futaba’s president and all those concerned for their decision, and also toward Governor Nakamura, the relevant department of Nagasaki prefectural government and Nagasaki Industrial Promotion Foundation for their cooperation.

　According to Futaba’s business plan, it plans to employ newly 150 persons in Sasebo. From the view point of regional revitalization it is desirable that a place of such a large scale employment be created in the city.
　
　Sasebo city would, in collaboration with Nagasaki prefectural government, like to offer as much support as possible to Futaba for their activities toward the start of operation such as factory construction and recruitment, and for smooth operation afterwards.

　After the completion of “West Techno Sasebo (area: 16.7 hectares)” industrial park on March 2014, companies decided one after another to locate: CVTEC Inc. at first in October 2014, then Kyushu TEN in May 2015, and Futaba in June 2015. As a result, over 80 % of its subdivision is expected to be sold out.

　Sasebo City will continue to work actively on attracting companies which can lead to create new employment, introducing the new industrial technologies and regional economic vitalization.
