Mayor’s comment on Mr. Takayuki Kitani’s winning a silver medal in Boccia at Rio de Janeiro Paralympics

September 13, 2016

I would like to congratulate Mr. Takayuki Kitani on his winning a silver medal in Boccia Mixed Team Match (BC1-2) at Rio de Janeiro Paralympics 2016.

He is from our city Sasebo and accomplished a great achievement to be a first Japanese silver medalist of Boccia at Paralympics, a big stage.

I think that it is his continuous efforts and support of his family and the people involved which led to his victory.

And I believe that this victory brought pride to the whole residents in Sasebo and gave courage to physically challenged persons.

Once again, I would like to sincerely congratulate Mr. Kitani, his teammates, his family and the people involved on his victory on behalf of the whole residents in Sasebo, wishing him continued success.

Norio Tomonaga
Mayor of Sasebo
