Mayors comment on passing away of Mr. Kazuhiko Maeda,president of Sasebo Chamber of Commerce and Industry

I would like to express my most condolence on the sudden loss of Mr. Kazuhiko Maeda, president of the Sasebo Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

　As the president of Sasebo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he played a strong leadership role for a long time and made a great contribution to the development of our city Sasebo in various fields including the promotion of regional economy and of welfare by his warm personality loved by everyone.

　He was committed to friendly coexistence with Japan Maritime and Ground Self Defense Forces and US Navy, in consideration of the importance of our city as national defense base and of their economic impact to develop the regional community including commercial and industrial promotion. In addition, he was working hard to promote international tourism and exchange activities in our city by attracting IR into Huis Ten Bosch area. It is therefore all the more regrettable that he passed away before its realization.

　I would like to express my deepest gratitude for his great achievement and to pray for the repose of his soul with all my heart.
