Regarding the governor's announcement concerning development of Kyushu/Nagasaki specific integrated tourist facility (IR) area (Mayor’s comment)

Regarding the "Kyushu/Nagasaki Specified Integrated Tourist Facility (IR) Area Development Plan," which was not approved by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as of December 27, last year, the Governor of Nagasaki Prefecture today filed a request for review based on the Administrative Appeals Act. It was announced that there would be no action to revoke the disposition based on the Administrative Cases Litigation Act.

Regarding this announcement, I understand that it was a difficult decision for Nagasaki Prefecture to make, but the city understands Nagasaki Prefecture's decision.

Until now, the "Kyushu-Nagasaki IR" has been integrated with Nagasaki Prefecture since the "Western Kyushu Integrated Resort Study Group" centered on the local business community was established in 2007 (Heisei 19). We have been working to attract an IR as a catalyst for the revitalization of the Kyushu region.

The fact that the Kyushu-Nagasaki IR was not approved was a very disappointing result not only for the people involved but also for the citizens.

In the future, I will summarize the IR bids to date, and utilize the network with related parties and town development know-how that I have cultivated through the efforts to realize the IR, and work with Nagasaki Prefecture to support not only the city, but also the city. , we will continue our efforts to revitalize the western Kyushu Sasebo metropolitan area.
