日本遺産ロゴNational Important Cultural Property Sentry Station

No. 3 tower is located in the southernmost point, as shown in Figure ①, among the three (3) towers near to Hairo-strait, which is famous for whirling tides. The wireless transmission facility is classified as a military secret to which any access by the third parties is prohibited. Therefore, the sentry station was built in the area where trespass by the third parties, who went to see the famous whirling tides in the strait, could be easily made. The sentry station was presumably constructed in 1923, one year after the wireless transmission facility started its operation. The value of the sentry station is that this station is a concrete structure in the early stage of the modernized Japan and is still remaining without collapsing in spite of its slender structure. It looks like an umbrella, and the round table is attached to the pillar in the middle. The diameter of the canopy is about 4 meter, and its height is about 3 meters.
