日本遺産ロゴRemains of Command Post for Antiaircraft Guns Battery on Mt. Tajima

田島岳高射砲台指揮所跡

This facility used to be a command post for the antiaircraft guns and the searchlight on Mt. Tajima. It is believed that the facility was completed in around 1938 and was equipped with a Sperry-model 90cm searchlight on an attached round structure. When Type98 (1938) 10cm antiaircraft guns were introduced in 1944, each gun platform was set 45m away from the command post to ensure that the blast of the firing did not affect the command post building and to prevent the function of the battery from being lost in one hit.
It had a rangefinder and a firing control device which could contribute to more effective shooting by working with the commander’s telescope.
